Fashion trends come and go, but a tattoo is forever. Or is it? Now with the latest technological advances, tattoos no longer have to be a permanent decision. That said, you should probably put some serious thought into your tattoo choice before you go under the needle. Just like those bedazzled jeans and graphic tees of the early 2000's, there are a wide variety of tattoo trends that seemed like a good idea at the time, when in reality, are cringe-worthy decisions to look back at. Here is a list of the top 10 most commonly removed tattoos, just incase you weren't already sure. 

10. Fairies - These mythical little creatures seem harmless and tiny, but people's love for them is more often than not, just a phase. A phase that until recently, you were stuck with. 

9. Zodiac Signs - Were you worried you might forget which sign you are? Did you check your horoscope on the daily? Either way, people tend to regret this celestial decision. 

8. Celtic Designs - Wanting to represent your heritage is great. Jumping in head first without doing your research is not so great. It's the latter that typically brings people in to remove these tats. 

7. Chinese Characters - Your tattoo may very well say wise (or at least you think it does...) but these tattoos are usually far from it. 

6. Butterflies - Ah yes, the quintessential tattoo of the late 90's early 2000's. Like the aging pop stars of that era, these tattoos have all but faded from memory. 

5. Stars - It's better to leave these little beauties in the night's sky. 

4. Barbed Wire - You probably got these to prove that you're tough, which turned out to be true when you had to go through the process of getting the entire thing removed. 

3. Misspelled Words - Spell check, it's a thing. Use it. And make sure your tattoo artist makes does, too.

2. Dolphins - The world's smartest creatures prove to be one of the dumbest tattoos. 

1. Tattoos with Names - Even your tattoo artist probably tried to talk you out of getting your (now ex) girlfriend's name tattooed on your arm. These tats tend to last longer than the relationships they represent, but thanks to the power of tattoo removal, don't have to be a constant reminder for the rest of your life.
